There were no surprises from the first round of play at the International Racquetball Tour (IRT) Atlanta Pro-Am in Lilburn, Georgia, although there was one five game match, where Maurice Miller won the tie-breaker against Destry Everhart, 9-11, 11-9, 11-5, 9-11, 11-3. Miller will play Samuel Murray in the second round of qualifying on Friday.

There could be an all Canadian Round of 16 match if Tim Landeryou defeats Francisco Troncoso on Friday, as that would put him up against Kane Waselenchuk, the #1 IRT player, in the 16s. Waselenchuk is originally from Edmonton, Canada, although he’s been a resident of Austin, Texas for several years, and Landeryou currently resides in Calgary, but was born in Ontario and grew up in Saskatoon.

In the first round of play on Thursday, Landeryou needed four games to defeat Nicolas Riffel, 10-12, 12-10, 11-7, 11-3, while Troncoso blanked Rodney Conner, 11-0, 11-0, 11-0.
