The top seeds are all through to the quarterfinals at the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT) 2017 Boston Open in Boston, Massachusetts, including LPRT #1 Paola Longoria, who was a straight game winner over Eleni Guzman, 11-3, 11-0, 11-1, and LPRT #2 Frédérique Lambert, who also won in three games against Jenny Daza, 11-7, 11-0, 11-9. The 3rd, 4th and 5th seeds – Jessica Parrilla, Alexandra Herrera and Rhonda Rajsich, respectively – also won their matches.

Parrilla dropped the first game against Sheryl Lotts, but came back win the next three, taking the match 8-11, 11-5, 11-4, 11-1. Rajsich also came back from a game down against Nancy Enriquez, who was up 2-1 before Rajsich won it in five games, 11-3, 6-11, 9-11, 11-7, 11-1.

Herrera won in three straight against Maria Renee Rodriguez, 11-0, 12-10, 11-2, but the match wasn’t without drama, as Rodriguez was up 9-2 in game two, but Herrera came back to win it 12-10. Rodriguez took timeouts at 9-5 and 9-9, and got the serve back immediately after the 9-9 timeout. She scored a point to get a game point at 10-9, but Rodriguez then changed from the serve she’d been using most of the game – a drive Z serve where she stood left of center and hit the ball to the front left corner so it went to the back right corner so to the left-hander Herrera’s backhand. At 10-9, Rodriguez served a half lob Z to the right rather than the hard Z to the right, and that allowed Herrera time to step and cut it off, getting the serve back.
