FLORIDA RACQUETBALL NEWS FLASH
July 1, 2018
Florida Racquetball Association, Inc.
The Board of Directors of the Florida Racquetball Association is announcing that Chad Bailey is choosing to step back from his duties as President of the FRA effective July 1, 2018. Chad has been an FRA Board member since 2008 and the leader of the FRA since March of 2011 for a 7 year 4 month historic run. During his tenure as President, the FRA Board has sanctioned 120+ tournaments at 21 facilities in 13 Florida cities.
Under Chad’s leadership during the last 5 years the FRA Board has expanded sanctioning once again to Florida’s east coast into both Davie and Port Saint Lucie, plus has expanded events into Ocala, Florida. In addition, for member communication the FRA Board established the official FRA Facebook page 4 years ago, now with 600+ followers. During this time Chad was also the private tournament director for the last 4 Florida IRT Tier-1 Pro Stops. Chad will continue his duties as an FRA Board member until the end of his term.
Effective July 1, 2018, the FRA Board has elected Jonathan Burns as the 10th President of the FRA, in which he will serve out the remaining 8 months of Chad Bailey’s term. Jonathan has been a lifelong racquetball player, enthusiast, contributor, and has been an FRA Board member since March 1, 2017. His passion for the sport has been evident from the input he has provided to the Board over the years.
As a player, Jonathan is currently ranked #4 in Florida and is the current reigning amateur FRA State Singles champion. The FRA Board is 100% committed to supporting Jonathan’s leadership going forward with the Board. This current interim presidential term will continue through February 28, 2019, when the Board will have an election for the next 2-year presidential term.
We celebrate and congratulate Chad Bailey with his accomplishments and his continued contribution to racquetball in Florida, and we wish the best to Jonathan Burns as he begins his new elevated responsibilities contributing to the sport of racquetball in Florida.
The Florida Racquetball Association is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit charitable organization incorporated in 1985 and controlled by an all-volunteer elected Board of Directors. The FRA continues to provide financial sponsorship support to Florida sanctioned tournaments, junior and collegiate racquetball, and other worthy racquetball and charitable causes.
