Maria Paz Muñoz, seeded 23rd, upset 10th seed Susana Acosta, 11-5, 11-9, 7-11, 7-11, 11-3, in the Round of 32 at the Ladies Professional Racquetball Tour (LPRT) 2017 Boston Open in Boston, Massachusetts Friday. Muñoz is a young player from Ecuador, who has plenty of experience at international events, so while it’s an upset by the seeding, her win over the veteran Acosta isn’t a big surprise. Muñoz will play 7th seed Natalia Mendez in the Round of 16 later today.

Also notable in the Round of 32, young American Sheryl Lotts defeated American veteran Cheryl Gudinas in three straight games, 11-5, 11-6, 11-3. In the only other match to go more than three games, Adrienne Haynes needed four games to fend off Michèle Morissette, 11-3, 11-9, 4-11, 11-9. Haynes will play 6th seed Cristina Amaya in the 16s, while Lotts takes on 3rd seed Jessica Parrilla.
